Everything you need to know about setting up and using the Serve AI mobile app

Get started with the Serve AI mobile app in minutes

Download the App

Download the Serve AI app from your device's app store:

Create Your Account

Open the app and tap "Create Account". You'll need:

  • Your restaurant name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (for SMS alerts)
  • Create a secure password

Verify Your Account

Check your email for a verification code and enter it in the app to activate your account.

Setting Up API Credentials
Connect your restaurant systems to start receiving alerts
Your API credentials are encrypted and stored securely. We never have access to your raw credentials.

Adding Integration Credentials

Navigate to Settings → Integrations in the app, then tap on the integration you want to connect:

Toast POS

Required credentials:

  • Restaurant GUID
  • API Access Token
  • Location ID
OpenTable

Required credentials:

  • Restaurant ID
  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
QuickBooks

Required credentials:

  • Company ID
  • OAuth Token
  • Refresh Token

Required credentials:

  • Company ID
  • API Key
  • Location ID

Security Tip

Never share your API credentials via email or messaging apps. Always enter them directly in the Serve AI app.

Enable Push Notifications
Ensure you never miss critical alerts
Push notifications are essential for receiving real-time alerts about your restaurant operations.

iOS Setup

  1. When prompted, tap "Allow Notifications"
  2. Go to Settings → Notifications → Serve AI
  3. Enable "Allow Notifications"
  4. Turn on "Lock Screen", "Notification Center", and "Banners"
  5. Set Alert Style to "Persistent" for important alerts

Android Setup

  1. Tap "Allow" when prompted for notifications
  2. Go to Settings → Apps → Serve AI → Notifications
  3. Enable "Show notifications"
  4. Set notification importance to "High" or "Urgent"
  5. Enable "Pop on screen" for immediate alerts
Notification Test

After enabling notifications, test they're working properly:

Navigate to Settings → Alert Preferences to customize which alerts you receive:

Expanding Alerts

When you receive an alert on your lock screen:

  1. Press and hold the notification (iOS) or swipe down (Android)
  2. View expanded details including:
    • Full context of the issue
    • Affected staff members
    • Time and transaction details
    • Suggested action items
  3. Tap "View Details" to open the full alert in the app

Recommended Actions:

  1. Verify cash drawer immediately
  2. Review transaction logs for voids
  3. Speak with staff members involved
  4. Check security footage if needed
Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them

Not Receiving Alerts

If you're not receiving alerts, check:

  1. Push notifications are enabled in your device settings
  2. You're logged into the app
  3. Your alert preferences are configured
  4. Your device has an internet connection
  5. The app has permission to run in the background

Integration Connection Failed

If your integrations aren't connecting:

  • Verify your API credentials are correct
  • Check with your IT team for any IP restrictions
  • Ensure your integration subscription is active
  • Try removing and re-adding the integration
